Mauricio Pochettino has been out of work for way too long.

After being sacked by PSG this summer, the Argentine has been unemployed for quite some time, and this week there have been rumours about his future regarding the Nice job.

Indeed, Pochettino has reportedly been approached by Nice in recent days about replacing Lucien Favre in the south of France, but according to Fabrizio Romano that approach has been rejected.

According to Romano, Pochettino is biding his time and waiting for a different opportunity, and we can only imagine he’s waiting for an elite job to come up.

During his time at both PSG and Tottenham, Pochettino garnered a reputation for being one of the best and most forward-thinking coaches in Europe, and he probably feels as though he can wait and get a job with a team readymade to challenge for top honours.

With all due respect to Nice, they aren’t that type of club.

Pochettino has been linked to some huge jobs in recent times. Manchester United were reportedly very keen before they appointed Erik ten Hag, while Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly had more than half an eye on their former manager as rumours continue to swirl around Antonio Conte’s future.

The Italian has been linked to Juventus in recent days, and while the Pochettino to Spurs rumours haven’t picked up any steam just yet, we can’t imagine that we’re too far away from hearing reports about the Argentine coming back to north London if Conte to Juve begins to advance.
