Spezia are thrilled to have retained the services of star striker M’Bala Nzola despite reported interest from West Ham United, Fulham Newcastle, president Stefano Chisoli told Radio Kiss Kiss.
Where would the top-flight newcomers be without their Angolan number nine. Preparing for life back in the second-tier, perhaps.
As it stands, Spezia are six points clear of the relegation zone with two months of the season remaining. And, thanks to the fine form of the talismanic Nzola, the Little Eagles will still be sharing the Serie A nest with AC Milan, Inter, Juventus and co in 2021/22.
Nzola has scored nine times this season, including a penalty in January’s famous 2-1 win at Napoli.
“M’Bala Nzola is a very important player, we are happy to have him with us and his value is recognized by all,” Chisoli admitted, some six weeks after the January market closed.
“There aren’t many players like him around. He’s very strong.”

Speaking during the winter window, Nzola admitted that he was ‘so pleased’ to catch the eye of clubs from all over the continent, with West Ham and Newcastle apparently leading the race for his sought-after signature (Calciomercato).
Fulham, meanwhile, failed with an £11.5 million January bid for a powerhouse striker who likens himself to Romelu Lukaku (Gazzetta dello Sport).
