Ruslan Malinovskiy is happy at Atalanta and will not be leaving for a spell in the Premier League with West Ham United this summer, his agent has told Calciomercato.

There are two ways to look at Malinovskiy’s season.

On one hand, the Ukraine international with a hammer of a shot produced nine goals and seven assists for an exhilarating Atalanta side who finished third in Serie A and were minutes away from a place in the Champions League semi-finals.

On the other, he started just 12 times in the Italian top-flight and was included in the first XI for just one of Atalanta’s eight European fixtures.

Perhaps smelling an opportunity, Sportal have claimed that West Ham are willing to offer Malinovskiy a fresh start in England, just one year after he moved to Italy from Genk in a £13 million deal.

“It is clear that there are many clubs interested in him and constantly asking about a transfer,” his agent, Sergiy Serebrennikov, before adding; “I do not believe, however, that Atalanta is willing to listen to offers.

“Of course, everyone has a price in the transfer market, but it is not our intention to leave Bergamo. Ruslan is doing great here and we are focused only on giving our best for the Nerazzurri.

“We still have a very long contract with the club. He is very happy.”

Malinovskiy’s teammates, such as Timothy Castagne, Robin Gosens and Duvan Zapata, have also been linked with a move away.

But why on earth would anyone turn their back on the most exciting team in Europe; an Atalanta side who scored the most goals in a single Serie A campaign for over 70 years?
