Simon Jordan told talkSPORT that Mauricio Pochettino is ‘using’ Tottenham to gain more power at PSG.

In recent weeks, rumours have been circulating far and wide that Pochettino could be in line for a sensational return to Tottenham.

The Argentine isn’t the only one on Tottenham’s wishlist, with Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, claiming that talks have begun with Antonio Conte.

Either way, given the Pochettino rumours, ex-Crystal Palace owner, Jordan, thinks Daniel Levy and Co. are being used by their former employer.

“We don’t know when they triggered this clause,” said Jordan. “So, we don’t know whether that was triggered very quickly or after he won the French Cup.

“Or it has been triggered after the purported situation with Tottenham. I think there is a powerplay going on.

“I think Pochettino is using Tottenham as a stalking horse to perhaps insert greater influence into what is reputed to be quite a difficult environment to work in, which is PSG, the chain of communication and the lack of access to the ultimate controlling influence, which is the money.

“I find it difficult to comprehend the notion that Pochettino would come back to Tottenham. And why either party would really, really want that.”

It would be a bigger surprise if Spurs re-appointed Pochettino than if Conte arrived, despite his previous links with Chelsea.

Questions have to be asked as to why Pochettino would want to return to Spurs, especially given that he joined PSG to win trophies and take that next step in his career.

Either way, Levy has to get a move on in this managerial hunt because Spurs aren’t the only Premier League looking for a fresh face to take to their dugout.

Everton have perhaps helped Spurs a little because Carlo Ancelotti has gone to Real Madrid, which means that Conte or Poch won’t end up in Spain, anytime soon.
