Some West Ham United fans on social media are over the moon with the club’s emerging links to Montpellier striker Andy Delort.
It has been reported that the Hammers have been offered the chance to sign the Algerian striker this month, and it’s clear that the fanbase think this is an offer the club should take very seriously.
To be fair, we can understand why.
Delort has been in red hot form this season, netting nine goals in 18 Ligue 1 games this term, and if the 29-year-old can carry that type of form over to the Premier League he would be a real asset.
However, there is a little caveat that West Ham should consider before moving to sign him.
Indeed, Delort has played in England before, he suffered an ill-fated spell with Wigan Athletic earlier in his career, failing to score a single goal for the Lancashire outfit during his time in the Championship.
Of course, players grow and things change, but if his spell at Wigan is anything to go by, he may not be suited to the English game.
However, that seemingly isn’t a view that many West Ham fans agree with, as there were plenty of supporters calling for him to be signed up.
