Speaking on the UMM YouTube channel, Micah Richards has been discussing Jack Grealish.
The Sky Sports pundit was asked whether or not he wishes he’d been able to play with Grealish during his time at Aston Villa, and, of course, the full-back says he wanted to share the pitch with the £100m man.
Of course, these two crossed paths at Villa Park, actually playing 18 games together, but by that point Richards was a shadow of his former self due to injuries, while Grealish himself wasn’t the player he is today.
Richards says he wishes he could’ve played his best football alongside a prime Grealish at Villa Park.

Richards’ Grealish regret
The pundit spoke about wanting to play with a prime Grealish.
“You wish you could have played with Jack Grealish at Villa?” Richards was asked.
“100 per cent. I trained with him but I was injured at the time, but he’s unbelievable. Watch this season, I’m putting my hat on it – Grealish, come on, I need him,” Richards said.
Didn’t work for Villa
Unfortunately for Aston Villa, they had a plethora of talented players in the mid-2010s, but for many it was a case of the right place at the wrong time.
Richards was too injury prone, Grealish didn’t have the experience, while the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Veretout have also gone onto big things since leaving the Midlands club.
In another world, that Villa team achieves big things with that group of players, but sadly, due to bad management and bad timing, they were relegated with a whimper back in 2016 after an absolutely torrid season.
As for Grealish. he has followed Richards’ career path in reverse, joining Manchester City after starting out at Villa, and as the pundit says, he could be set for a big season for the reigning Premier League champions.
