Ian Wright has told Wrighty’s House Podcast that Marcelo Bielsa is ‘unapologetic’ about the way Leeds United play and their fans are ‘not bothered’ if they ‘getting hammered’ now and again.

The BBC pundit made those comments in a positive way and stated that’s what he loves about Leeds and their ‘attitude’ and approach to games.

Leeds recorded a goalless draw against Arsenal over the weekend to end a run of back-to-back games where they suffered two defeats and conceded eight goals.

Wright shared his thoughts on Leeds’ style of play and why he is such an admirer of their popular coach.

“Leeds have to get love,” said Wright. “Simply because of their attitude. The manager’s attitude towards the way his team plays.

“He’s unapologetic about the way they play and who they playing. I saw a quote the other day where he said ‘If you value your style of play then you have to accept the consequences that come with it’.

“What I love about that is the Leeds fans are totally not bothered about getting hammered by this one or that one because he will not compromise in the way he plays. They should have beat us the other day. But, at the same time, there is something about Leeds and Bielsa’s approach that is so refreshing.”

Leeds’ bread and butter is throwing men forward and scoring goals. If that stops then they are in trouble because whilst they try to stabilise themselves this season, they will still concede a high volume of goals.

But the key thing that the Yorkshire club are showing, now and again, is the ability to keep a clean sheet, which is proving to be valuable.

Given their gung-ho, fearless and never-stop-attitude, they need a cushion behind them unless results go the other way and they are providing that during the early stages of the season.
