Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after Carlo Ancelotti made a huge claim about Gylfi Sigurðsson.
Speaking on Everton’s YouTube channel, the Italian said that he would choose his £45 million man, or Andriy Shevchenko, to take a 90th minute penalty to win the game, of all the players he has managed.
Ancelotti said: “Usually a cold player. It could be Shevchenko. I have a lot of confidence in Sigurðsson. He has to be cold, so Shevchenko or Sigurdsson.”
In fairness, the Iceland international is usually incredible from 12 yards.
Throughout his career, Sigurðsson has scored 32 penalties out of 40, as shown by Transfermarkt.
His ability from the spot isn’t up for debate – he is ice cool.
However, what appears to have baffled some Everton fans below about Ancelotti’s claim is the calibre of players he’s managed in his career.

Basically, Ancelotti is saying he’d rather have Sigurðsson standing over a 90th minute spot-kick instead of the following players.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Xabi Alonso, Kaka, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Andrea Pirlo and many more.
One supporter below feels Ancelotti wouldn’t have included Sigurðsson if he wasn’t currently managing the 31-year-old.
They believe the Italian is utilising his man-management skills by name-dropping Everton’s No.10.

If that is what he’s doing, then surely it’ll work.
Imagine how Sigurðsson feels now after hearing Ancelotti put him above all of those aforementioned footballing icons? He’s probably on cloud nine.
Let’s see what the Everton fans on Twitter have been saying about Ancelotti’s revelation…
