Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that Thomas Partey will train on Friday ahead of the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Partey has not played for Arsenal since the Premier League game against Aston Villa at the start of November, as reported by Football.London.

The Ghana international defensive midfielder suffered a thigh injury in the match.

The Gunners will take on Tottenham away from home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Arteta told Football.London about Partey on Thursday: “Well, he’s putting a lot of pressure on us. He’s training tomorrow with us and let’s see how it goes in the next couple of days.”

Boost for Arsenal

It is very exciting and positive for Arsenal that Partey will start training with the team on Friday.

Of course, it does not mean that the 27-year-old will go straight into the starting lineup against Spurs, but it is a very encouraging sign indeed.

The former Atletico Madrid star would be a huge presence for the team even on the substitutes’ bench.

Arsenal may have won against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday evening, but they are not doing so well in the Premier League.

Partey would provide the Gunners with steel in the middle of the park, and his ability to drive the team forward and impose himself on games would be massive in their quest to win the North London derby against Spurs.
