Francesco Totti said an emotional farewell to Roma this evening, with his 785th appearance for the club becoming his last.
Totti spent 25 seasons at Roma, rejecting opportunities to move elsewhere with Spanish giants Real Madrid linked in the early 2000s.

The Italian put club loyalty above anything else, and bowed out as a club legend.
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts praised Totti last night, and called on Harry Kane to become their own version.
As far as numbers go, Kane has a long way to reach Totti’s appearance count.
So far he has 163 under his belt for Tottenham.

Still only 23, Kane has plenty left in him, and Roberts’ main point is his hope that Kane will stay at Tottenham for the remainder of his career.
The striker signed a new contract last season and has no intention of quitting the club, especially while they remain in the title picture.
Francesco Totti only won the Serie A title once, and Kane will hope to have more to show when his career ends – although at this stage getting that first league win would be a huge achievement in itself.
Totti’s Roma could not build on the one they did win. Tottenham hope that they are on the verge of creating a dynasty of league titles. Even if they don’t, Roberts and many others hope Kane could be in it for the long haul regardless.
