Glenn Hoddle says Tottenham Hotspur transfer target that Kaoru Mitoma has ‘got to go’ and leave Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Tottenham legend says he is ‘surprised’ a team hasn’t come in for the Japan international this summer, after he scored a stunning solo goal for free-scoring Brighton against Wolves on Saturday, as he told Premier League Productions (19/08/23 at 4:00 pm).

Cutting in from the left flank, Kaoru Mitoma drove through a crowd of puzzled Wolves players, who couldn’t deal with his piercing drive and then exquisite finish into the bottom corner like he’s Ronaldo (R9).

It has been suggested that Ange Postecoglou, who has started life at Spurs in a positive fashion, ‘admires’ the Japan international, as reported by The Daily Mail in July.

It shouldn’t be a surprise given the London club’s need to add more attacking bite to their forward line following Harry Kane’s exit and Postecoglou’s very strong knowledge of the Asian footballing market.

Nonetheless, the Spurs boss isn’t the only admirer of Mitoma, with Hoddle giving the 26-year-old his flowers.

“I am surprised nobody came in for him,” said Hoddle. “Unfortunately for Brighton, this fella has got to go because he is too good.”

Mitoma’s price-tag

Brighton might be a selling club, they sold Yves Bissouma to Spurs last summer, but they don’t sell cheap and they make sure it’s their way or the highway when it comes to the transfer fee they put on their players’ heads.

If a defensive-midfield player in Moises Caicedo has gone to Chelsea for £115 million, then it’s scary to think how much they would want for an attacking player in Mitoma

It wouldn’t be a surprise if they demand £100 million+ for Mitoma as well, which probably doesn’t help Tottenham’s cause because they have Daniel Levy in charge.
