Harry Kane has been urged to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer by Danny Murphy.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant season in the individual stakes at Spurs, scoring 21 goals and setting up another 14.
Kane, who came through Tottenham’s academy, is at the very peak of his powers but collectively, the team have struggled.
Jose Mourinho’s side were top of the Premier League at one point in December but went into this gameweek in ninth place, which illustrates their struggles over the past few months.
The Lilywhites are in the last 16 of the Europa League and have a League Cup final with Manchester City to come in April.
But former Tottenham midfielder Murphy feels that somebody of Kane’s ability should be competing for the biggest prizes that football has to offer and believes that his window of opportunity is narrowing if he wants to leave, with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland going to be the most in-demand strikers for the foreseeable future.
He wrote in The Mail: “If he doesn’t leave Tottenham now, he never will. I’m sure he’s thinking about it every day because time isn’t on his side. Right now, he is among the best three strikers in the world and would improve any team.
“He turns 28 this summer, with younger models Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe becoming increasingly attractive to the elite clubs every year.
“Kane clearly loves Spurs and wanted to give Jose Mourinho every chance this season. But they are miles off challenging for a Premier League title or Champions League so now it’s decision time.”
