Reported West Bromwich Albion target Max Watters hit a stunning hat-trick on Saturday with Crawley Town coach Lee Bradbury hailing the Football League’s hottest striker, as reported by the Crawley Observer.
On a day in which the Baggies were once again left ruing a lack of quality and cutting edge in the final third, slipping three points adrift of safety after a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, their reported January target added a few more pennies to his price-tag with another ruthless display.
Watters hit the target twice against Mansfield Town last week but went one better as Barrow arrived at Crawley on Saturday.
A trio of trademark, poacher’s efforts means the former Doncaster Rovers youngster now has 12 goals in 12 League Two matches this season – 15 in 15 across all competitions.
“He’s just the pinnacle, he’s been putting the ball in the net and he’s been good at that,” said Crawley coach Bradbury after the 4-2 triumph over newly-promoted Barrow.
“He’s a very unselfish player and he’s a good team player and at the moment he’s getting all the accolades and rightly so, but as a team today everyone stood up and that’s a fantastic showing for us.”

The Mail reported last week that Watford were rivalling West Brom for the signature of the £1 million-rated Watters; a London-born 21-year-old who played under Baggies legend Darren Moore at Doncaster last season.
Watters has scored more goals on his own than West Brom’s entire team have managed in 2020/21; although whether he is capable of making a giant step up from the fourth-tier to the top flight remains to be seen.
