Brendan Aaronson arrived at Leeds this summer with a lot of fanfare.
The American attacking midfielder was a long-term target for the Whites, and the club made sure to make him their first signing of the summer almost as soon as the transfer window opened.
As a former Jesse Marsch player who was shining over in Austria, expectations were high for Aaronson at Leeds.
In fact, so much was expected of Aaronson when he arrived that Micah Richards named him as his player to watch this season before the campaign started.

One to watch
Richards, when speaking to 90Min, named Aaronson as his one to watch.
“Aaronson without fail he’s the one to watch. A lot of players, you can see them hiding, but he doesn’t hide, he gets on the ball wherever and with the tempo that Leeds want to play at Elland Road with the new signings, I think it’s going to gel nicely,” Richards said.
Not lived up to it
Naming Aaronson as your one to watch before the season was reasonable. After all, he looked like an exciting signing, but if you were watching Aaronson this season, you’d be seeing a whole lot of nothing.
The American has been wholly ineffective for Leeds so far. He’s got one league goal to his name – courtesy of a goalkeeping mistake against Chelsea, and he’s not done his bit to help Leeds out of their current predicament.
Aaronson hasn’t been awful, but this entire Leeds team has been below-par, and you certainly wouldn’t reflect on this Premier League season and say that Aaronson was one of the standout performers.
The attacking midfielder hasn’t lived up to expectations in his debut season.
