Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch had tipped Sam Greenwood to become a superstar one day after another impressive cameo from the young striker.

Speaking to Leeds Live after the Whites’ 3-0 win against Watford this weekend, the American coach was full of praise for the 20-year-old striker, who assisted Jack Harrison’s match-sealing goal against the Hornets.

A £3m signing from Arsenal in 2020, Greenwood has experienced his first taste of first-team football this season, with the England youth international making six appearances for Leeds in all competitions, bagging two assists along the way.

And for Marsch, Greenwood has all the quality and potential to become a superstar for Leeds, with the youngster adapting to senior football in a big way in the previous weeks.

Marsch said: “First of all, Sam’s been really good since we’ve been here and I said to him two days ago that if I look at the entire player pool, he’s the one that’s adapting the best and understanding what we want the game to be like. I think he showed that today and he also has quality.”

The Leeds boss added: “He has the ability to make some final plays, he’s very technical, so we’ve got to find ways to include him more, so I’ve got to find ways to include Joffy [Joe Gelhardt] more, I’ve got to find ways to include Summerville more, so all three of those guys for me are going to be big players here and are important for us moving forward.”

Leeds have prided themselves in their entire history for integrating exciting players from the academy into the senior squad, and Greenwood could well become a regular under Marsch next season given the American’s fondness for the youngster.

Moreover, with Greenwood impressing with each passing game for Leeds, the forward is adapting well to Premier League football, and the former Arsenal talent could be an exciting member for the Whites in the seasons to come.
