Neil Harris has revealed that he had added motivation to beat Leeds United because he wanted to get one over on Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds resumed their promotion bid this afternoon but lost 2-0 to Harris’s Cardiff City side in Wales.
Goals from Junior Hoilett and Robert Glatzel did the damage for United on a day when Bielsa’s side could’ve established a 10-point cushion in the automatic promotion places.
The former Millwall manager is an unpopular figure among fans of the Elland Road club, due to the fact he boasts a good record against the West Yorkshire side.
And Harris admitted to The Yorkshire Evening Post at full-time today that he was ‘pumped up’ to beat Leeds and Bielsa again.
He said: “Leeds could have been the best opposition for us because naturally you are going to be up for the game.
“I was pumped up for the game because I wanted to beat Leeds, I wanted to beat Marcelo Bielsa because he is the main man.”
It’s important that Leeds dust themselves down now and move on immediately.
Cardiff came from three goals down to draw with Bielsa’s side earlier this season, and the Whites only won one of their next seven games after that.
The Bluebirds have a way in which to deflate Leeds’ morale and it’s imperative that Bielsa gets them back up as soon as possible.
