Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has lavished praise upon Liverpool teenager Curtis Jones after his spectacular start to the season.
Wright was putting together his Team of the Season so far, and one of his co-hosts suggested that Jones should be put into the team after his exceptional performances as of late.
Wright didn’t quite go as far as to put Jones into his Team of the Season, but he did make it clear how impressed he’s been by the Liverpool youngster.
“The way they’ve nurtured him through for him to be there now, and when you watch him against Spurs the other day, even to the point when he started in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury, he scored and done brilliant, he scored great goals then,” Wright said about Jones.
“The way they’ve nurtured him to this point, where I’m watching him doing backheel flicks, simple passing, taking his opportunities to get into the box, shooting when he has the opportunity. He just looks like a complete player already.
“You can look at him and think to yourself, yes Thiago is going to come back in, but is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain shift him now with the way he plays? You look at him now and think yeah he’s the future, and he’s going to be there for ages, he’s absolutely fantastic.”

This is fantastic praise to get from a bona fide Premier League legend.
The most interesting part about this is what Wright says about Oxlade-Chamberlain though.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is clearly one of Wright’s favourite players, after all, he’s an ex-Arsenal player and he has spoken highly of him in the past, so to hear that he now rates Jones higher than him is a testament to just how talented the 19-year-old is.
