Reported Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe is better than Erling Haaland.

At least, that’s the suggestion from former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson, who has been swooning over the Anfield-linked superstar.

The France international has been one of the tournament’s most electrifying performers thus far, netting three goals from two group-stage appearances.

According to Marca in October, Liverpool are interested in signing the Paris Saint-Germain, amid uncertainty about his long-term future in the French capital.

And Merson cannot say enough good things about the 23-year-old, claiming that he’s the best footballer on the planet.

He told The Daily Star: “Kylian Mbappe is the best player on the planet for me. It was a joy to watch him shine against Australia and Denmark for France. I don’t know what he can’t do on a football pitch. He is that good. He can score goals, he can create them, beat players, dribble, cross the ball, head it and win matches on his own.”

Better than Haaland?

Haaland isn’t at the World Cup obviously, after Norway failed to qualify.

But many would argue that the Manchester City marksman is the game’s best player at the moment, having scored an outrageous 23 goals in 18 outings under Pep Guardiola this season.

Having said that, Mbappe probably is the most talented in terms of being all-rounder.

The Liverpool-linked forward isn’t as prolific as the towering City attacker, but Mbappe certainly does have it all – the X Factor – and it’ll be fascinating to see whether this speculation about joining the Merseysiders has any substance whatsoever.
