Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, former Spurs ace Stephen Kelly has been discussing Oliver Skipp.
Spurs were beaten by Chelsea 3-0 this weekend, and Kelly noted a gulf in class between the two clubs based on the substitutions they made.
Indeed, the former right-back says that the fact that Chelsea were able to bring on N’Golo Kante while Spurs had to bring on Skipp highlighted the difference in the teams, but he did reserve some praise for Skipp, stating that he’s going to have a really good career.

Kelly was speaking about the difference between Spurs and Chelsea.
“It’s a gulf in quality, you know, we brought Skipp on and he’s tenacious. I really like him, I think he’s going to have a really good career going forward, but you bring on Skipp and they bring on Kante, that’s the difference. They bring on a Ballon d’Or contender and we bring on Skipp, and that’s no disrespect to Skipp. I really like him, I love what he’s about, his energy and his tenacity.”
Future star
Kelly is right that Kante is a higher-calibre player than Skipp, but that may not be the case forever.
Indeed, Skipp looks like a real star in the making. He’s tenacious, he’s energetic and he’s got genuine quality on the ball.
His performances for Norwich in the Championship last season showed what he was all about, and he’s carried that form into the Premier League.
At the age of 21, Skipp still has a lot of growing to do, and if he reaches his potential he could be an absolute star.
