Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has been discussing Diogo Jota after he picked up an injury.

The attacker has sadly picked up a severe issue that will rule him out of the World Cup, and Klopp can’t even put a timeframe on his return.

This is a huge blow for Jota that has come at the worst possible time with a World Cup just around the corner, and he would be forgiven for being absolutely devastated by his injury.

However, according to Klopp, Jota isn’t too cut-up about his injury situation, stating that the striker is surprisingly ok after being ruled out of action.

Jota is coping well

Klopp spoke about Jota’s injury.

“The first diagnosis was clear and it’s very sad news for us. We have to look at we always do and if we can consider things lineup-wise, we will. It’s an intense period, we’re used to it but full energy is required again v West Ham,” Klopp said.

“We’re talking about months. I don’t want to put a time on it. It will be a long time.”

Klopp was then asked about Jota’s mood after his injury:

“He’s surprisingly ok so far, a smart boy and he knew it when we carried him off. At that moment he knew it.”

Good mentality

This Liverpool squad have been labelled as ‘mentality monsters’ in the past, and Jota seems to fit into that category,

Many players would fall into a pit of despair after being given this news, but the Portuguese forward is coping well and is seemingly not going to let this injury affect him too much.

In the back of his mind, he knows how much of a blow this is, but he’s not bringing that attitude to the training ground and letting it affect his teammates or his manager.

Jota will be back eventually, and when he is, he should be ready to push on once again.
