Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil agreed on TalkSport (29/10/20 at 6:10 am) this morning that the form of Shane Duffy for Celtic has been ‘questionable’.

Former Rangers striker McCoist suggested that Celtic’s summer signing is finding out that the Old Firm duo are facing a weekly battle of opposing teams raising their games against them.

When Celtic first pushed for Duffy’s signature, it was met with open arms by those in Parkhead especially given his experience, both in the Premier League and on the international stage.

But the Irishman hasn’t been able to make the impact he would have liked and it’s something which McCoist and Celtic-mad Brazil agree on.

“He has been missing for a period, Christie has been out. Edouard has been out,” said McCoist “There have been two or three. Big Jullien the centre-back. I think the form of Duffy has been questionable.

Brazil then admitted: “I have to say, he is struggling. I don’t think he realises the tempo of the game.

McCoist agreed and said: “A lot of people don’t really then they come up and you know what it’s like. When you play against the Old Firm, I don’t care what you say, the players raise their game. I think there are a few Celtic new boys who are finding that out.”

Given that Celtic are trying to push for that historic 10-in-a-row this season, the last thing Neil Lennon needed was to defend himself in front of the media.

Whilst results and performances have been a problem, the Bhoys have been missing a number of star names and it needs to be remembered that trophies are won at the end of the season, not at the start.

Not only that, Celtic have proved that they leave their best performances for the latter stages of the season, so these recent weeks might just be the kick up the backside the club needs.
