Corentin Tolisso will not be leaving Bayern Munich this summer despite reports linking him with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has told Tuttosport via Maxifoot.

Considering that Thiago Alcantara looks increasingly likely to swap Munich for Merseyside, the newly-crowned European champions really cannot be blamed for wanting to keep another international midfielder at the Allianz Arena.

ESPN reported in June that Bayern were set to offer Tolisso to Tottenham as part of a deal that would see £63 million bench-warmer Tanguy Ndombele go in the other direction.

Arsenal were also linked via Fussball Transfers and, back in May, all the signs suggested that the 2018 World Cup winner would be sold by the Bundesliga champions.

Yet the ongoing Thiago saga appears to have convinced Bayern to change their stance and offer Tolisso a fresh start at the Allianz Arena.

“Tolisso? He’s staying. He’s happy and we want to keep him,” Rummenigge says.

The former Lyon enforcer became Bayern’s £40 million record signing 2017, but a relentless series of injuries have left him on the outside looking in of late.

Tolisso started just ten games combined in the Bundesliga and Champions League and played a grand total of four minutes during Sunday’s 1-0 triumph over Paris Saint-Germain.

Thiago’s impending exit, however, opens the door for Tolisso to start living up to that price-tag at last.
