‘He’s starting, isn’t he’: Some Arsenal fans react to Arteta’s claim about £30m player

Arsenal fans think Mikel Arteta will start Granit Xhaka in the North London derby after his comments about the player.

The 28-year-old is available to play for Arsenal on Sunday after his recent suspension.

In his absence, Arteta’s men have won all three games, including securing three clean sheets in the process.

But could Arteta start Xhaka at the Emirates because, according to his manager, as he told Football London: “He came back and he was flying (in training) because he really looks after himself.

“He’s always training. As he always is he was giving the maximum and the best possible attitude to compete and win matches.”

The likes of Thomas Partey, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Albert Sambi Lokonga have played the more defensive roles for the Gunners of late.

But whenever Xhaka has been available to Arteta, he has started the £30 million player (Sky Sports), but fans don’t want him brought back against Spurs.

When it comes to Arsenal and Switzerland, there does seem to be two different Xhaka’s that turn up.

If the hard-hitting midfielder was able to transcend his international performances onto the domestic stage then he would be a world-beater, but something holds him back.

Either way, if Xhaka does start then expect him to be demanding off the ball and provide that aggression needed in a feisty derby.

So, perhaps Xhaka’s aggressive nature is needed and it probably suits this match.
