Speaking on the 1874 Podcast, The Athletic journalist Gregg Evans has given an update on how the hierarchy at Villa feel about Arjan Raikhy.

Raikhy was a part of Villa’s fantastic FA Youth Cup winning side that conquered Liverpool last week, and as you can imagine, people within the club have high hopes for the 18-year-old.

The teenager could be earmarked for a loan move next term, but Evans maintains that people at the club are big fans of his.

What’s been said?

Evans, who is well-connected at Villa Park, provided an update on the teenager.

“He’s got something about him. He’s big, he’s tall, he’s got a range of passing, he can tackle, he can get about the pitch as well. You don’t see him score many goals, but he’s more of a protector,” Evans said.

“It will be interesting to see what he’s like. I expect he’ll be one of the guys that is pushed out on loan next season and get time in League One or League Two and see where he goes from there.

“It’s really exciting and it’s really exciting for the Punjabi Villans as well, having one of their own in the Villa team, they’re massively behind him and there’s nothing better than seeing homegrown kids coming through.

“He’s a good character, he’s someone they like at the club and he could have a big future.”

Exciting times

Villa look to have an incredible crop coming through at the moment.

Louie Barry could be a real star, Carney Chukwuemeka looks like an absolute gem, and Raikhy is another player the club are excited about.

Of course, we don’t want to put big pressure on young shoulders, but there’s every chance that this young man makes a big impact at Villa Park one day.

Fingers crossed Villa manage his development correctly in the coming years.
