Celtic signed towering defender Christopher Jullien a little earlier this week.
Scott Brown has told The Scottish Sun that he is happy with Celtic’s signing of Christopher Jullien – specifically the size of him.
The Hoops splashed out and spent £7 million on bringing in the French centre-back from Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
At 6’5, the 26-year-old is a towering figure and now one of the tallest players in Celtic’s first-team squad.
Brown, the club captain who cost £4.4 million in 2007 [The Guardian], is yet to meet the man himself, but footage of the Jullien indicates to him that ‘he looks the part’.
He told The Scottish Sun: “A lot of players have left so there is a bit of space in the squad for a few to come in.
“I’ve seen videos of the big man and he looks the part. He’ll definitely help. He’s some size as well, which is good, because it’s something we’ve maybe lacked in the past.”
Celtic, it’s fair to say, could have an absolutely monstrous defence next season – in terms of physical presence anyway.
Like Jullien, Kristoffer Ajer is also a 6’5 colossus but if the Hoops new boy is as good of a player as his Norwegian team-mate then manager Neil Lennon is laughing.
There is big pressure on Jullien to do the business though, because £7 million is a significant sum for the Scottish Premiership champions, but he seems a confident lad and it’ll be interesting to see if the expectancy fazes him.
