Whether they like it or not, it appears as if Arsenal fans are about to see their club sign Willian.

The Chelsea winger is almost out of contract in West London and ESPN reported this week that he could sign a three-year deal with the Gunners, worth £100,000 per week.

It used to be that fans of football clubs wouldn’t get excited by a transfer rumour until Sky Sports News were reporting it.

And although that’s still true to some extent, specific journalists carry a lot of clout and once they say something is happening, it generally does happen.

Fabrizio Romano is one of those journalists whose word carries a lot of weight on Twitter and Instagram.

And the Italian has revealed on Instagram that Arsenal are ‘so close’ to getting this one done.

Not all fans of the North London outfit are excited by the prospect of signing him, however.

Yes, he’s a very good Premier League player, but the Brazilian winger also turns 32 tomorrow and you can certainly see why some supporters of the Emirates Stadium club are frosty about this one.

They’ve just won the FA Cup and look to be going places under Mikel Arteta, so signing another aging Chelsea player, after bringing in David Luiz last summer, could give the wrong impression.
