Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Jermain Defoe has been waxing-lyrical about Harry Kane, stating that he’d love to play alongside him.
The striker was discussing modern day attackers, and he was asked which Premier League player would he most like to play alongside, and Defoe was quick to name Kane as his dream partner.
Defoe had a lot of joy in his career playing alongside technically proficient forwards who could drop deep, such as Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov, and he believes that Kane would be a great partner.
What’s been said?
Defoe named Kane as his perfect modern striker partner.
“Harry Kane, and Harry Kane is a number nine, he’s a number nine and you get some players who come towards the end of their career and their legs have gone, Michael Owen did it at Newcastle, when they come short. Someone like Harry has done that earlier than players before, and it’s almost like he’s mastered it. His range of passing, I did the game at the weekend, I watched him and he’s so clever, he walks into pockets, the ball sticks to him and his range of passing, short and long, it’s unbelievable,” Defoe said.

Would’ve been brilliant
Could you imagine Kane and Defoe together in a Spurs team in the late 2000s or early 2010s? They would have been fantastic together.
Kane’s playmaking and finishing combined with Defoe’s lightning speed would have made the pair one of the most deadly in England.
Of course, in the modern game, strike partnerships have been phased out, so these two probably wouldn’t have played together if Defoe was 10 years younger, but if we could transport Kane back a decade in a time machine, Spurs would have a truly elite partnership here.
