Liverpool have their biggest game of the season when Real Madrid visit Anfield in the Champions League tonight.
A place in the semi-final of the competition is up for grabs and Real Madrid are big favourites to reach the last four.
That’s because the Spanish giants have a 3-1 aggregate lead over Liverpool following last week’s victory at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.
But Jurgen Klopp’s side do have an away goal, courtesy of Mohamed Salah, and a 2-0 win on the night will be enough to send the Reds – who won the competition two years ago – through to the semi-final.
The German manager has a big selection dilemma regarding Sadio Mane, though.
Klopp dropped the Senegal international for the win over Aston Villa last weekend it wasn’t strictly to keep him sharp for tonight.
Really, it was because Mane only has 12 goals in 40 appearances for the Merseysiders since September, a poor return when you consider the former Southampton winger – a £30 million signing in 2016 [The Telegraph] – netted 48 in his past two seasons across all competitions.
Still, Mane has a lot of credit in the bank for his previous heroics for Liverpool – including in this competition – and some fans of the Anfield club believe he’ll be recalled tonight.
