Former Brisbane Roar player Thomas Broich has lauded the impact Ange Postecoglou has had on Celtic since arriving at the club.
Speaking to the Daily Mail via the Daily Record, the German midfielder, who played under Postecoglou during their time together in Australia, was full of praise for his former manager for the work he has done in Scotland.
Postecoglou was a surprise appointment for the Celtic job in 2021 after the club looked set to appoint Eddie Howe. However, half a season into his first year with the club, the 56-year-old has become a fan favourite at Parkhead.
The former J-League manager has brought attacking flair and a hopeful future to the Hoops, and to Broich, Postecoglou has exceeded expectations with Celtic already this season.
The former Brisbane Roar star said: “I’m actually quite surprised it’s working so well already. And he did it by himself? Postecoglou didn’t bring anyone with him to Celtic. I asked him about that, why he didn’t insist on working with people he already knew and trusted.
Broich added: “He liked that challenge, to win people over to his way of seeing football. Who does that nowadays? Normally coaches bring in a team of ten people! He did it completely by himself. He’s a remarkable man. Incredible.”
Postecoglou’s work at Celtic has gone underappreciated

It’s easy to forget just how torn the Celtic fanbase were when Postecoglou was announced as the full-time successor to Neil Lennon. Yet six months on, and the decision has proven to be a stroke of genius from the club.
From exceptional player recruitment to an exciting brand of football, Postecoglou has blown expectations out of the water for Celtic. And with the Hoops in the race for the title, the Australian coach could cap off his debut year in Scotland with a historic Scottish Premiership win.
