David Luiz is said to be ‘really upset’ with his current situation, after being released by Arsenal this past summer.

The Brazil international spent two years at the Emirates Stadium but Edu and Mikel Arteta decided against renewing his contract in June.

As a result, Luiz returned to his homeland and signed for Flamengo, where he’s earning £50,000 per week.

But the 34-year-old is growing increasingly ‘upset’ at life with the Brazilian giants.

According to UOL journalist Nunes Rocha, Luiz is considering another move to Europe and his decision will hinge on who Flamengo hire as new head coach.

Rocha said: “If a proposal from Europe arises, he considers the hypothesis, if things continue as they are, of returning.

“Whoever spoke to me said that for him to have made this exposure like that, although he’s very sincere in his statements, for him to expose himself to this point, it’s because he’s really upset. He is dismayed by what he’s seen at the club.”

Luiz had an okay spell in London with Arsenal.

Yes, he won an FA Cup in 2020, leading to the club signing him up to a new short-term contract for another year.

Off the pitch, it’s well known that he was a good influence on these Arsenal lads. On the pitch, well he was a bit of a nightmare a lot of the time, having been sent off three times under Arteta.

For the most part, he did okay at Arsenal but there were major signs that he was a declining force in European football.

The fact he might be returning to Europe is, however, a strange one.
