Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly does not want Jorginho to leave in the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Charles Watts in TEAMtalk, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta rates Jorginho highly.

The well-known and well-respected reporter has claimed that Jorginho has impressed everyone at Arsenal since his move from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The Gunners paid £12 million in transfer fees for the Italy international midfielder, according to Sky Sports.

In June, 90min reported that Arsenal are willing to sell Jorginho in the summer transfer window.

The report claimed interest in the 31-year-old from Serie A clubs Lazio, Napoli and AC Milan.

Watts said about Arsenal and Jorginho: “They’re very happy with how it’s worked out. I thought he was very good last season when he came in and he’d replaced Partey in the side by the end of it.

“Long term, if Partey stays, which is an ‘if’ at the moment, I would say Partey probably goes back ahead of him in the pecking order, but I think Jorginho has still got a very, very big part to play.

“He’s really popular behind the scenes, he’s a massive figure, as well, he’s really established himself quickly as a leader off the pitch at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta really likes him and the players really like him and I think he’s got a big part to play.

“It’s going to be such a big-squad game for Arsenal this season, especially with Champions League football coming back. Jorginho’s got all the experience you’d want to be able to cope with and deal with that.

“He’s happy at Arsenal, I know that, and I’d be very very surprised if Jorginho was one of the players who leaves between now and the end of the end of the transfer window.”

Arsenal should keep Jorginho

In our opinion, Arsenal should not sell Jorginho in the summer transfer window.

Just because the Gunners have signed Declan Rice from West Ham United does not mean that the North London club should offload the Italian star.

Let us not forget that Granit Xhaka has left Arsenal already this summer.

Arsenal should not get rid of another senior player in Jorginho.

The midfielder may have been signed in the middle of last season to give Arsenal a push in their quest to win the Premier League title, but he is a very good and experienced player.

Arsenal will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, and Jorginho’s experience will be important for the Gunners.

The 31-year-old won the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League with Chelsea and the 2020 UEFA European Championship with Italy.
