Gabby Agbonlahor told talkSPORT (01/11/20 at 8:20 pm) that Sebastien Haller is ‘probably sulking’ at West Ham because he has hardly played.

The 26-year-old started for the Hammers over the weekend, as his side suffered a 2-1 defeat at the home of the champions.

Haller came into the starting fold for the injured and in-form Antonio, but he wasn’t able to impress and he was substituted late in the second half.

Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor thinks Haller doesn’t suit the style of play David Moyes plays at the London Stadium and it’s a reason behind his poor form.

“I think he needs to play in a certain team,” said Agbonlahor. “He looks like he needs real good service. He needs crosses into the box.

“He isn’t the sort of striker that’s going to link up play, turn and run past people. Or run in the channels or run in behind. He hasn’t got that pace.

“So, maybe it’s the way West Ham are playing doesn’t suit him. But if he went to a different team maybe it would suit him with the way he plays. The team in Germany he was at, they played to his strengths by getting loads of crosses in and he got his goals.

“But I feel like it’s confidence as well. If he can get a couple of goals then he could get better and better. Even against Liverpool, he probably isn’t up for the game as much because he knows that he is only playing because Antonio is injured. That can have an effect on a player sometimes. He’s probably sulking a bit because he hasn’t played.”

Even though Saturday’s encounter was against Liverpool, it was still an ideal opportunity for Haller to show that he’s worthy of a starting spot.

Liverpool have been conceding goals for fun this season, and on top of that, they played a debutant at centre-back, but the away side didn’t make it count in their favour.

In Haller’s defence, when he usually plays, he is left isolated up top and he needs legs around him in order to get the best out of himself.
