Some Arsenal fans are fearing for Shkodran Mustafi after Mikel Arteta left him out of his squad this afternoon.
The Gunners were dumped out of the FA Cup following a 1-0 defeat away to Southampton.
And quite tellingly, the Arsenal boss did not include the Germany international in his squad.
Arteta even named two goalkeepers – Mat Ryan and Alex Runarsson – on the bench but there was no room for Mustafi, who earns £90,000 per week in North London.
The Spanish coach claimed earlier this month that the linked-away Mustafi wouldn’t be going anywhere, having lost Sokratis and William Saliba already.
But some Arsenal fans believe that the 28-year-old is a gonner after his omission today. Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter:
Let’s face it, Arsenal wouldn’t miss Mustafi in the slightest.
They aren’t in any domestic cup competitions anymore and now that we’re into the knockout phase of the Europa League, Arteta won’t be naming any more experimental XIs.
The former Valencia centre-back has six months left on his contract at the Emirates and if an offer comes in, they should absolutely take it because, well, he simply isn’t going to play a lot of games.
