£5 million-rated midfielder Fredrik Aursnes looks set to stay at Molde despite ongoing links with Leeds United, according to VG.
The Norway U21 international was coy when asked about speculation surrounding his future last week, admitting that he ‘knows nothing’ about a potential move to Elland Road.
And it seems that all the signs are now pointing at another season in Scandinavia.
The Sun reported earlier in August that newly-promoted Leeds had identified Aursnes as a £5 million addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s midfield, with the 24-year-old boasting that perfect blend of tenacity and technique.
But, with the uncapped enforcer looking to secure a place in Norway’s squad ahead of Euro 2021, it seems that he is destined to stay at a club where he is all-but guaranteed regular first-team football.
“He’s ours,” says Molde coach Erling Moe, after Toulouse made an unsuccessful £2 million offer.
“Basically, Toulouse is dead and the channels from England have not been opened.”

“A of right now, there will be nothing,” adds sporting director Ole Erik Stavrum.
“There is a halt in the negotiations. We have been told that nothing will happen right now at least.”
It seems that Leeds will have no choice but to look elsewhere as they aim to reinforce a midfield which, due to Bielsa’s preference for a possession-heavy approach, remains absolutely key to their hopes of avoiding an immediate return to the Championship.
Leeds have been linked with a whole host of talented ball-players since securing promotion. Yet it seems that deals for Aursnes, John Swift, Florentino Luis, Matias Zaracho and more, have hit the buffers.
