Some Arsenal fans on Twitter have spotted a very big clue that Martin Odegaard could be coming back to North London.
Odegaard is heavily linked with a permanent move to Arsenal after spending the second half of last season there on loan from Real Madrid.
And interestingly, the 22-year-old was omitted from the squad entirely on Saturday as Real Madrid kicked off their La Liga campaign against Alaves.
El Confidencial reported on Saturday that the Gunners are in discussions with Real, who could sell the Norway international for £34 million now – £8 million less than their original asking price.
The signs are looking pretty good that Arsenal are finally going to add a number 10 to their squad.
And here’s how some fans of the Emirates Stadium club are reacting on Twitter:
Badly needed
Arsenal suffered an awful opening-day defeat away to Brentford on Friday night in their first Premier League game of the season.
It proved that Mikel Arteta – who’s a fan of Odegaard – is in dire need of creative spark from midfield.
Emile Smith Rowe was, incidentally, Arsenal’s best player on the night, but he’s lacking in the sort of magic that the Norwegian can produce.
And if his omission on Saturday is linked to a likely return to the Premier League, it has to be considered good news for the Gunners.
