Steve McManaman told Premier League Productions (19/05/21 at 8:00 pm) that it was ‘very telling’ that Harry Kane was ‘on his own’ following Tottenham’s defeat to Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

After the full-time whistle, Kane was out on his pitch clapping the 10,000 Spurs fans in attendance with the majority of his teammates back in the dressing room.

It adds a certain emotion to those scenes because it raises the question as to whether yesterday’s game was Kane’s final match in front of Tottenham supporters.

Former England midfielder, McManaman, pointed out how Kane was ‘out there on his own’ after the full-time whistle.

“He’s out there on his own,” said McManaman. “Most of the Tottenham players have gone in. He’s out there on his own.

“There are a couple of players a hundred yards behind him. Gareth Bale and somebody else. But apart from that Kane is there on his own.

“He’s on the edge of the box, so that’s very telling that he has decided to around on his own and clap the fans.”

There will be an air of sympathy from Tottenham fans towards Kane and perhaps a feeling that if he left they wouldn’t blame him.

Many will fear that he has perhaps played his last game as a Spurs player in North London and it’s a crying shame because more should have been made of his talents.

Daniel Levy focused more on moving into a new stadium rather than more the squad forward on the field of play when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge.

And even by doing that Spurs still don’t have any naming rights for their pretty expensive stadium.
