Crawley Town coach Lee Bradbury is not surprised by speculation linking West Bromwich Albion and Watford with striker Max Watters, while speaking to the West Sussex County Times.

After 11 league games, only two teams have scored fewer goals than Slaven Bilic’s side so far.

And if the Baggies are to put an end to their ‘boing, boing’ reputation and stave off an immediate return to the Championship, the January transfer window feels like an opportunity they cannot afford to miss.

But it almost goes without saying that West Brom would be taking an almighty risk if they put their faith in a League Two hotshot to solve their goal-scoring woes.

The Mail claims that Watters has caught the eye of the Premier League newcomers after scoring 12 times in 14 matches for a Crawley side he joined on a free as recently as October following his departure from Doncaster Rovers.

Championship promotion-chasers Watford are also interested, with the Red Devils seemingly destined to make a big profit on a player now valued in the region of £1 million.

“You look at him he’s 5’ 11”, he’s built strong, rapid and he knows where the goal is,” said Crawley’s assistant coach Lee Bradbury

“He’s on fire at the minute. He has done very well and he will be attracting a lot of attention I am sure.”

A clinical, dead-eyed finisher, Watters scored twice in his most recent outing with a gorgeous first-time lob against Mansfield Town the sort of effort that would not look out of place in the Premier League.
