Mikel Arteta’s comments about Bukayo Saka have not convinced Arsenal supporters that he will be sticking around.
Saka has been one of the success stories of the season at Arsenal, with the youngster enjoying a wonderful breakthrough year.
The 18-year-old has excelled in Arsenal’s first-team, but the Gunners still have not been able to tie him down to a longer-term deal.
And Arteta’s comments have only caused more concern that Saka will leave.
“He has a manager that has total belief in him and a club that totally support him,” Arteta said to Football London.
“He has team-mates that adore him. It is in his hands [if he stays]. The maturity that he shows on the pitch is really good.”
If Saka is to depart it would be a huge blow to Arsenal, as he looks like one of their brightest talents.
Saka has impressed at left-back, down the wing and even in central midfield more recently.
The England youth international looks to be an important part of Arteta’s future plans, and if Arsenal are unable to tie him down it would have to lead to serious question marks being raised over their ambition.
