Celtic fans on Twitter haven’t reacted well to some post-match comments from Neil Lennon last night.

The Hoops were sent crashing out of the Champions League at the second qualification hurdle after losing 2-1 at home to Hungarian minnows Ferencvaros.

Despite losing the contest, Celtic dominated a bunch of other statistics apart from the goals metric.

Lennon’s side boasted 70 percent possession and 28 shots compared to the visitors’ seven, but the Parkhead outfit were nowhere near clinical enough where it mattered.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound after the game, the Irish manager said: “The game was actually a lot easier than what I thought it was going to be, but we didn’t take our chances. We had plenty of them.”

And Celtic fans weren’t loving Lennon’s claim that the match was ‘easier’ than he had anticipated.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

You can see what Lennon means, because he probably didn’t expect Celtic to dominate like they did, but it’s not a good look for him or the Bhoys to claim that the game was ‘easy’ afterwards.

The bottom line is that this is a horrendous defeat, their earliest Champions League exit for 15 years, and the manager needed to choose better words.
