Kevin Kilbane has stated that Arsenal and USA goalkeeper Matt Turner ‘isn’t a top-class’ heading into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as he told Off the Ball.
The Arsenal summer signing is set to be USA’s number-one man between the sticks, after playing in a sporadic fashion on the domestic stage this season.
Whilst Turner made a huge leap from the MLS spotlight to the expensive lights of the Premier League stage, he hasn’t earned the minutes he would have liked given that he has England World Cup star, Aaron Ramsdale ahead of him.

Nonetheless, the USA are in the same World Cup group as England, Iran and Wales – they open their account against the Welsh on Monday.
Ahead of that encounter, former Premier League defender Kilbane, who is based out in North America, shared his thoughts on Turner and the feeling towards this current USA team.
“Turner, the goalkeeper, who has now signed for Arsenal,” said Kilbane. “I don’t rate him. I don’t see him as a real top-class goalkeeper.
“I don’t see them (the USA) where they maybe see themselves at.”

CAN USA PROGRESS?
England are the obvious favourites to win Group B, but from then on, everyone will fancy their chances to book their ticket to the knockout stages.
Perhaps USA and Wales will feel it’s between them as to who progresses and their opening game will tell the fans everything they need to know.
Secure the three points from that game, then it will land them in good stead heading into the final two matches, especially their showdown against England.
