Don Hutchison told Premier League Productions that Trent Alexander-Arnold was not learning from his mistakes during Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

The BBC pundit was making reference to Alexander-Arnold’s defending for Man City’s opening goal and how he’s ‘not learnt’ form his earlier mistake in the first half.

Raheem Sterling was fouled by Fabinho during the first period, with Alexander-Arnold allowing his England teammate to ghost past him, which left his teammate vulnerable.

Nonetheless, ex-Liverpool man Hutchison wasn’t impressed with Alexander-Arnold’s action on Sunday.

“Poor defending from Trent in the first place, he shanks his clearance,” said Hutchison. “And again, he’s not learnt, Trent.

“Why hasn’t he learnt? But why hasn’t he learnt?! This is what we are talking about high-level football.

“The three Red shirts have more or less stopped because they are probably going ‘why on earth has Trent sent them there for on his right foot?’ Identical to the penalty.”

After years of success, this current Liverpool side now face their biggest test, as they try to get out of their current rut.

Ideally, the Liverpool supporters would like their two fullbacks, and front three, causing havoc in the final third again because that may just ease the pressure on the engine room.

But their midfield is struggling to get started because of vital players, such as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho missing from the middle of the park and having to play at the back.
