Danny Mills has told talkSPORT (10/11/20 at 9:55 pm) that Marcelo Bielsa is ‘not interested’ in a plan B when it comes to Leeds United’s style of play.

Now that Leeds are on a bigger stage in the Premier League, fans across the world are seeing what Bielsa and his gung-ho methods are about.

The Yorkshire club are very aggressive in their style, they go man-to-man as soon as they lose the ball and whether they win, lose or draw, they will make teams work like they have never been worked before.

Former Leeds man Mills shared his thoughts on Leeds’ style under Bielsa.

“The way that they play is incredibly open,” said Mills. “So, therefore, they are going to lose some games and they are going to win some games. They are going to be incredibly entertaining.

“They play so expansively sometimes that when they don’t score, and they concede, then teams sit back then that’s what it is. Bielsa has one way of playing. He doesn’t do plan B. He’s not interested in a plan B. It’s ‘we will keep doing plan A and keep getting better’.

“They will be high tempo. They will outwork teams – that won’t be an issue [fatigue]. Their work rate will be exactly the same. They have outworked every team they have played against, so far. That’s not going to change.”

In the 90’s Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United were known as ‘the entertainers’ for how they would just attack, attack and attack.

That’s why they were able to beat a then strong Manchester United side 5-1, but they were also on the back end of one of the greatest games in Premier League history – their 4-3 defeat to Liverpool – that scoreline will be familiar to those currently in the Leeds dressing room.

The fact that there are no crowds does dampen the style in which Leeds play, but like that Newcastle team, it could be argued that Leeds are the entertainers of today.
