Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has told BBC Sport that Callum Wilson was not happy with him for taking him off on Sunday.
Newcastle managed to claim a 2-1 victory over Everton at the weekend, with Wilson being sacrificed late on.
Bruce wanted to protect Newcastle’s lead, so he took off his side’s main goalscorer in a bid to give his side some more defensive stability.
But Wilson had already netted two goals and was keen to score a hat-trick.
“He’s a goalscorer. He’s not happy, he’s not happy that I brought him off because he’s on two goals,” Bruce said.
“I think that’s three goals he’s got in the six yard box. I’m delighted for him, he works really hard and he’s proved to be a great signing for us.”
Wilson has indeed proved his worth to Newcastle already, as he looks far more a goalscoring threat than any of their attacking options from last term.

The likes of Dwight Gayle, Joelinton and Andy Carroll all struggled for goals last season, but Newcastle now finally have a poacher that they can rely on.
Wilson’s goalscoring instincts have already helped Newcastle win some close contests, with Bruce’s side continuing to grind out results.
Newcastle are currently in 11th place in the Premier League table, having taken 11 points from their first seven games this season.
