Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Aston Villa’s recent poor form and, in particular, Emi Buendia.
It’s fair to say Villa aren’t playing very well right now. They’ve lost four consecutive matches in the Premier League and their new signings simply aren’t firing.
Leon Bailey isn’t playing enough, Danny Ings is injured and Emi Buendia, as much as we hate to say it, isn’t living up to expectations.
However, what is arguably more concerning is how Buendia reacted to being substituted over the weekend.
Indeed, Wright noted that the Argentine headed straight down the tunnel after being brought off, stating that he threw a bit of a strop.
What’s been said?
Wright gave his view on Villa’s new signings.
“It’s not quite happening yet with Buendia, Bailey and Ings. Ings is obviously injured and we know he can score, but between Buendia and Bailey, we’ve seen it in flashes that they look like they’ve got something. But Buendia got brought off at the weekend and went straight down the tunnel. He’s not even been there long and he’s already throwing a strop,” Wright said.

Frustrating
Buendia seems to be a little bit frustrated by how his time at Villa Park has started, and we can understand why.
This is an immensely talented player, but despite getting a big-money move, he’s not been able to showcase his ability yet.
He knows he can do it. After all, he tore the Championship to shreds last season, but things just haven’t clicked for him so far.
Yes, he threw a bit of a strop at the weekend, but in the heat of the moment, we can understand why he’d be unhappy.
