Gabby Agbonlahor has told talkSPORT (31/10/20 at 9:45 pm) that Mesut Ozil is a player who has ‘never worked hard’ in his career and he ‘doesn’t make sense’ as to why he has been left out of Arenal’s 25 man squad.

From Mikel Arteta’s perspective, this is a story that will run and run until he is either proved right in leaving Ozil out, or even worse, proved wrong.

Whilst previous managers have also left the German out of their playing squad from time to time, he has still been there on the sidelines, but Arteta has decided to become ruthless in his decision-making by waving goodbye to him forever.

Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor sent a blunt message to Arteta about Ozil and thinks he should still be part of Arsenal’s plans.

“Everyone goes on about that he doesn’t work hard,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. “He’s never worked hard since he made his debut as a footballer. It’s not his style.

“But what he does offer is that he will get the ball in the pockets and he’ll make something happen.- When teams will play defensive against Arsenal they need someone to break them down. Aubameyang needs Ozil’s services. Lacazette needed it. Pepe needed it. I just don’t understand why you would be that stubborn to leave him out of the 25 man squad.

“There must be something else going on there. Does Arteta want to me Mr Firm? I’m the one who has left Ozil out. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

In truth, Arteta should be praised for his decision-making, whether fans agree with it or not, because someone is finally being authoritative at the North London club.

Previously, whilst Arsene Wenger will go down as an Arsenal great, towards the back end of his tenure, he was too loyal to his players.

Here, Arteta is giving the chance for players to go down two roads and two roads only – his way to success or out of the exit door – and following that win against Manchester United last night, it seems as though more and more fans are beginning to believe what he’s doing.
