Ian Wright has claimed that Thiago Alcantara has ‘never been pressed to that extent’ like the Liverpool midfielder was during his side’s 2-2 draw against Fulham.
The former striker added that Thiago ‘constantly got caught’ during their Premier League opener, as Jurgen Klopp watched Aleksandar Mitrovic run his side ragged.
Klopp would have been pretty disappointed with Liverpool’s start, but he probably would have been more frustrated by Thiago’s injury.

The £25 million signing is set to miss a number of weeks after suffering a hamstring injury (Sky Sports), which is a big blow after only one Premier League game in.
That probably does open the door for the likes of Harvey Elliott to shine in the middle of the park, but it has raised the question as to whether Liverpool will dip in the market for another technician.
Nonetheless, this is what Wright had to say about Thiago from his latest Wrighty’s House Podcast.
“Thiago Alcantara to come off in the end, he has never been pressed to that extent,” said Wright. “He was worked and constantly he got caught.”

SHOULD LIVERPOOL SIGN ANOTHER MIDFIELDER?
Liverpool have proven time and time again that if they want a player, then he will be signed up as quickly as they can get a deal done – Luis Diaz is a prime example of that.
But it seems as though those in the boardroom don’t think they should be bringing in another midfielder this summer, despite cries from the fans.
Klopp has a number of youngsters to pick from like Fabio Carvalho, Elliott and Curtis Jones, that’s probably why they aren’t in a rush.
It’s commendable because Manchester City would have been running to the bank by now, whilst the man in Liverpool’s dugout prefers to build things in a steady manner.
