Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Dion Dublin has been speaking about Liverpool and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The midfielder started for the Reds in the Champions League in midweek and he put in a solid display against Porto.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a torrid time with injuries in recent years, but now that he’s back fit and firing, Dublin believes he could be a valuable asset for the Reds.

What’s been said about Oxlade-Chamberlain?

Dublin was asked if the midfielder’s run in the side could help him grow in confidence.

“Yeah, it can, and a lot of the time when people aren’t in the eyeline people think they become bad players, but he’s back in the side, he’s looking fitter and he’s looking leaner. We know what he can do when he plays every week and he gets into the swing of things, he’s a very good footballer and if he can get games, he’s a good player, he’ll be valuable,” Dublin said.

Could be an asset

Oxlade-Chamberlain may not be high in the pecking order at Liverpool these days, but let’s not forget, this is an incredibly talented footballer.

The midfielder was a regular for England before he went down injured, and as Dublin says, if he can get a run of games and rebuild his confidence, there’s no reason why he can’t be an asset.

If Oxlade-Chamberlain can return to his best, he could end up actually being one of the Reds’ better players.
