Alan Shearer has claimed that Arsenal’s summer transfer target, Gabriel Jesus, ‘looked very good in everything’ he was doing for Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night, as he told BBC Sport.

Manchester City beat Real Madrid 4-3 in an enthralling first-leg Champions League semi-final tie, with Jesus getting on the scoresheet.

It was the striker’s fifth goal in as many days following his four over the weekend against Watford in the Premier League.

All of this is probably music to the ears and eyes of those at Arsenal because there are suggestions Mikel Arteta is keen to re-unite with the player.

Well, if that does happen, then the Gunners have a top, top player on their hands.

This is what Shearer had to say about the Arsenal transfer target’s performance in the Champions League last night.

“Gabriel Jesus has looked really sharp this evening,” said Shearer. “He has looked very good in everything he’s done.”

With Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out-of-contract in the summer, it makes Arsenal even more desperate to sign a striker in the summer.

First thing is first, someone like Jesus is an upgrade on the above duo, regardless of if they stay or leave.

Plus, the Brazil international has worked with Arteta before at the Etihad, so he will know his game inside and out.

Then there is the fact that Jesus has the goalscoring ability to knit everything together for Arsenal, as well as drop deep and act like that playmaker, if need be.
