Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been previewing Liverpool’s game against Real Madrid on Tuesday evening and he’s been discussing Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan striker has hit form for the Reds recently, scoring a fantastic goal at the weekend, but sadly, he did pick up a knock against Newcastle United too.
However, despite his injury issues, Lawrenson believes that Nunez will be starting this evening, stating that it would be good if he can start because he can cause problems for this Real Madrid side.

Lawrenson says Nunez will start
The pundit gave his verdict on the striker starting this game.
“I think Nunez will play. I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t. I think he just fell on his shoulder and after a bit of treatment and everything he’s probably sore, but I think he’s desperate to play. He’s lightning quick and it would be good if he does start to test Real Madrid at the back,” Lawrenson said.
Different dynamic
Liverpool will have to bring something different to the table if they’re going to get the better of Real Madrid, and Nunez could be just what the doctor ordered.
Indeed, during last season’s Champions League final, the Reds’ attack looked rather blunt as they tried to break Madrid down, but now, with Nunez, they will create chances.
Of course, as we all know, there is a difference between creating chances and finishing chances, and that all depends on which Nunez turns up.
Nunez starting against Madrid is a no-brainer if he’s fit enough. His pace and power will cause Los Blancos all sorts of problems and he could be the difference-maker in a game like this.
