Even some Tottenham Hotspur fans think that Harry Kane may leave them this summer after his latest comments to Sky Sports.
Kane conducted an interview yesterday, where he once again outlined his desire to win major trophies.
He said, after winning the London Premier League Player of the Year award: “The goal right now as a player is to win team trophies. As much as this [award] is great, I want to be winning the biggest prizes that there is to offer as a team and we are not quite doing that.”
“It is bittersweet. I would rather be winning team trophies.”
The quotes come just after Tottenham’s latest defeat in the League Cup final.
It means that Kane has now played in three finals with Spurs and lost them all.
And Tottenham fans are very worried after the latest development with Kane.
Kane leaving would, of course, by a disaster for Spurs – given he really is the jewel in their crown.
The striker would be practically impossible to replace, due to the quality he possesses.
Kane’s latest comments are arguably the clearest public indication yet that a move could appeal to him, since he suggested he would leave Tottenham if they didn’t match his ambition back in 2019.
The problem for any transfer for Kane remains over his price-tag though.
Kane is contracted to Tottenham for the long-term, so Daniel Levy is under no pressure to sell, and will likely want a record breaking fee for his star player.
With football clubs announcing big losses due to the pandemic, it seems unlikely that massive sums will be spent on a 27-year-old player who may have little resale value at this current moment in time.
And that means that Kane may well remain at Tottenham, despite the concerns that are emerging in the fan base that he could leave them.
